FEDERICO HERRERO COVERS WITH TROPICAL WALLPAPER THE BRUTALIST CENTRAL LIBRARY IN PORTSMOUTH

Brutalist Library/Tropical Wallpaper

Federico Herrero
12 May - 14 August 2007, Norrish Central Library

Printed onto bespoke wallpaper, the work of Costa Rican artist Federico Herrero will make a temporary covering for the Norrish Central Library in Portsmouth's Guildhall Square.

Concentrating on both architectural anomalies and an overall impression, this large-scale graphic project will open up the existing space and invite viewers to re-imagine the building. Herrero's work will directly change the immediate architectural fabric of the site; papering will highlight design, space and shape and breathe new life into the existing construction.
