SMITHSON'S HOTEL PALENQUE IS ELSEWHERE, REVISITING HOTEL PALENQUE THANKS TO GOOGLE MAPS

check out the logo of the PRI (Partido Revolucionario Institucional) which ruled (and still wants to rule) the country for more than 70 years in one of the walls.

I've just been writing a small text for Mexico City's Rufino Tamayo Museum's magazine Rufino on Jonathan Monk's sign based on Robert Smithson's lecture and images on Hotel Palenque, which he just donated to the museum. I was wondering if the Hotel was still there, as it's been 10 years since I visited, so I did a search in Google Maps, and here's what I found!

here's the link to Hotel Palenque's website:

you can see and listen Robert Smithson's lecture on Hotel Palenque at Ubuweb:

  1. U.K. Artist Jeremy Millar did some works about the Smithson-Palenque days. They're pretty interesting.
