Matthiue Laurette's postcard image,
comes from a project Hains and Laurette did together in 2002. Raymond Hains, 75 and Matthieu Laurette, 32, photographed each other on a trip to Saint Malo and Mont Saint-Michel, two popular tourist destinations in the north of France. Hains photographed the Galerie Laurette, an artisanal gallery owned by Matthieu Laurette's parents, and Laurette standing in front of his old high school. Laurette, in turn, photographed Hains at the Musée Grévin sitting around with Jean-Paul Sartre or looking at Picasso. In doing so Hains and Laurette reconstructed new images of themselves and their respective worlds.
