DIK FAGAZINE AT WHITE CUBICLE TONIGHT

4th of May 2008 (Sunday), 7 pm to 10 pm
White Cubicle Toilet Gallery, George and Dragon Public House, 2 Hackney Road, London E2
We cordially invite you to the White Cubicle Toilet Gallery. Especially for the occasion of the DIK Fagazine exhibition, artist and founder of DIK, Karol Radziszewski, will reconstruct his mural painting from ‘Fags’ - the first ever openly gay exhibition in Poland, presented by him in 2005. The show in the George and Dragon toilet will also feature a unique toilet seat in the shape of the iconic DIK Fagazine logo and will have the latest issue of the magazine (ARTY FARTY) for your toilet reading pleasure. Special series of graphics by Monika Zawadzka - art director and designer of the magazine, created in limited number of copies, will be available exclusively for guests of the evening.

DIK Fagazine is the first and the only magazine from Central and Eastern Europe concentrated on art, homosexuality and masculinity. Bilingual (Polish and English), printed in Poland and distributed worldwide, DIK Fagazine is showcasing the specificity of homosexual culture and male image in post communist countries. Each issue of DIK Fagazie is developed into a unique artistic concept of its creator and publisher – artist Karol Radziszewski who founded the magazine in 2005. DIK Fagazine is filled with contributions by artists such as: Wilhelm Sasnal, Dan Perjovschi, Zbigniew Libera, Artur Zmijewski, Rafal Bujnowski, Katarzyna Kozyra, Pawel Althamer, Slava Mogutin and Brian Kenny, interviews with extraordinary people and genuine reportages. The magazine’s scope of interest covers art, photography, literature, comics and fashion. The experimental layout and iconic logo of DIK Fagazine is designed by Monika Zawadzka.

The White Cubicle Toilet Gallery measures 1.40 by 1.40 metres, is located within the Ladies Toilet of the George and Dragon, and works with no budget, staff or boundaries. White Cubicle has become one of the East End’s most exciting and ambitious exhibition spaces, presenting a discerning programme of international manifestations as an antidote to London’s sometimes extremely commodified art scene. Past exhibitions have included the work of Deborah Castillo, Gregorio Magnani, Butt Magazine, Federico Herrero, Terence Koh, i-Cabin, Steven Gontarski, Pixis Fanzine/PrincessJulia and Hanah, General Idea and avaf, Basso Magazin, Carl Hopgood, Giles Round, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, Superm (Brian Kenny and Slava Mogutin), Elkin Calderon, Wolfgang Tillmans, Calvin Holbrook/Hate Magazine, Husam el Odeh, Simon Popper, Fur.

With this exhibition, White Cubicle continues its tradition of giving visibility
and space to independent publications: Butt Magazine, PIX fanzine, Basso Magazin, Hate Magazine, Fur...
