During the Sommerakademie, Tirdad Zolghadr and invited speakers will discuss
various philosophical, ideological, historical and practical dimensions of art
with twelve international artists and curators. The aim is to analyse with mutual
benefit the conditions surrounding the production of art on the one hand,
and the requirements and necessities of art on the other. Workshops for the invited
Fellows will take place in an environment conceived by Ethan Breckenridge in
the Forum of the Zentrum Paul Klee. This space will encourage participants
to consider further the possibilities of an experimental academy. Breckenridge will
also place a satellite installation in the Loge of the PROGR.
The Sommerakademie is an international platform for contemporary art with theme-
specific seminars, which takes place every August. It promotes artistic production
and reflection, as well as increased interaction between artists and curators, inviting
them for a ten-day programme in Berne to work and network with renowned
personalities from the art world.
